I think we need to look at recruiting. It has always been a weak point, and not something we have enthusiastically pursued.Given that "raiders" tend to want to bail out as soon as they hit the high level of a toon, we may need to look at a different model than a "raiding" guild. I think a big problem has in fact been the lack of active recruitment, and is not the fault of former members who like to raid. That being said,

1. how big do we want to get

2. are we willing to take on "new" players at lower levels and help them level

3. do we adhere stringently to an age cap?

4. how will we recruit, and how will we present/describe ourselves?

5. do we reintroduce "titles" and responsibilities such as "Raid Officer" or "PVP officer", etc.

Please feel free to address these and any other questions you may come up with. I myself am willing to commit to helping new players level, but I am not in favor at all of recruiting younger players (under 20) unless they are known personally by another member. I plan on doing some active recruiting asap, but first I will wait a few days to hear what people have to say. All are welcome to comment.

It seems to me that recruiting is going to be tough without some critical mass and some semblance of a schedule for running instances. Don't get me wrong, I am not against the idea of recruiting but without a plan it may be difficult to retain recruits.

I know its tough for our folks to commit to a schedule and we're coming in to summer which is always been a slow time for online gaming.

We've always been casual (and that is fine by me) but I think that is what causes people to seek other guilds because you can't see all the end game content with a casual approach.

I definitely think an age level minimum is going to be a necessity. Too many punks out there looking for a free ride.

I think it is also important that the people we are bringing in, know that we are not going to immediately be jumping into naxx or uldar.

1. how big do we want to get : That all depends, i think all of us have our alts, I am probably one of the biggest alt junkies. But i am willing to work on my tank and healer to get them better geared and ready for the 10 mans

2. are we willing to take on "new" players at lower levels and help them level : I think we should, we have helped out each other lvling and most of us if not in the middle of something will help someone out. Though we should not be asked all the time, they have to do most of it themselves.

3. do we adhere stringently to an age cap? : YES ! i think quite a few of us remember some of the new blood that just DIDNT work out well.

4. Recruiting ... that is always tough. How to explain ourselves ... Well we are MA ... start there.

Just remember to tell them i am the innocent one Razz

5. Raid officers ... Lets wait and work on this till we get closer, OR something i have thought might be fun ... get a raid together and do kara, MC and ZG just for fun.

ok thats my 5 cents worth for the moment.

Re the age cap:

I was once in Orgrimmar checking auctions or turning in some quest and was getting annoyed at the recruiting spam in the trade channel. So I said in trade chat, "If you're not wearing Depends, you're too young for my guild. (Check my guild name.)" I got a few lols and even a couple whispers telling me ours was the perfect guild for them. I had to let them down that the guild was just a tiny "Alliance experiences the Horde" guild with me being the only real active player in it.

No thanks. Much as I miss you guys, I don't miss world PvP at all. I was even reminded of it today while doing the herb quest in Wintergrasp as I got ganked on a prot paladin with no PvP skill at all.

I will restrict my PvP play to Tribes or Battlefield.

well, then come play tribes with us. Ballixe and Cornholio have been playing, and we may try to organize something.

Also, I will volunteer to be a bodyguard if you want to try to level.

Goon Haven is about the only server with any activity.
Its runs well and is set to a max of like 64 players.
I have been on it with 50 playing and there was no lag.

Lots of people spamming WAV files gets annoying but the games have pretty good for the most part.

What the subject didn't make my opinion clear enough????

The only way to keep new members, is to offer something for everyone. (as hard as that sounds) I believe that at a min we should have enough lvl 80 to run two heroics a day, and also schedule some lower level instances for those leveling up, maybe one or two a week. That way we have a better chance of keeping all levels interested. To that, let me know how I can help.

As for age limits YES PLEASE. its not that i do not like younger members, many are great, but lets not forget our most recent experiences. We should though continue to freely accept family members of any members. Once again, let me know how I can help in recruiting.

As for titles, who needs them? Are we not pass the age of needing titles to satisfy our ego? On the other hand when we get bigger it may make it easier for newer members to identify who to talk to. Either way, who cares.

How big do we want to get, at least 100 active members (not toons) that way we should always have someone available for raids, heroic, instances or just leveling. Most people are interested in just a few aspects of the game, by having more members we will hopefully have all areas covered.

As we get bigger, we should sub divide into what core areas that people want to play(raiding, instances, leveling ...), so that we could focus our recruitment into the areas that have shortages.

This is just my opinion but, why slither through the weeds, when you can fly like an eagle?

Tiny
